A contemporary coastal new build at Maraetai Beach, designed from the outset to be low maintenance and completely at home in its setting. The client, a builder himself, knew exactly what he wanted: a home that would look after itself while he got on with the important business of fishing and being at the beach.
A contemporary coastal new build at Maraetai Beach, designed from the outset to be low maintenance and completely at home in its setting. The client, a builder himself, knew exactly what he wanted: a home that would look after itself while he got on with the important business of fishing and being at the beach.
Traditional weatherboards ground the exterior in the coastal vernacular, while inside, blonde vertical timber brings warmth and texture without competing with the views beyond. Expansive sliders run throughout the living spaces, dissolving the boundary between inside and out and ensuring the beach is always present, whatever the weather.
Four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, generous enough for family and the long unhurried days Maraetai was made for.
