Nestled away close to the water in Point Chevalier is the site for this modern 'Mid Century' style townhouse. On a small half site and maximizing the building envelope of the day you'd be fooled into thinking you were in a much larger home.
We've used a lot of raw materials on the finishes of this house from the hand trowelled look of the concrete slab that provides a marble type finish, cork walls on several walls to the split face concrete bricks that make up the exterior finish. Not to mention the custom Allpro designed spiral staircase which sits by the entrance way and is a beautiful feature well visible from the road.
With a stud height of 3m we were fitted full height custom cavity sliders to each room. No architraves or skirting boards were used instead we were able to use custom steel slimlines to window and door jambs that were plastered to achieve that solid Mid-Century look.
Aluminium Vertical cladding was used on the upper level of the house to add contrast to the many layers of bricks. Both materials came in a very similar off-white colour.
This was a very satisfying project to be involved in and we feel the result is a magnificent big volume house on a postage stamp! Beautifully appointed and finished to the highest standards that I and my team aspire to on every job.
