This 700sqm family home, spanning over 3 levels had to tick many boxes in order to achieve our client’s extensive brief. The river side site had to be heavily contoured to allow for three levels and to maximise the views of the Waikato River. The client showed keen interest in utilising sustainable principles and materials which made this project a perfect partnership. We combined their love of classic architectural detailing brought up to date with modern touches, timeless materials and cutting edge technology including a large 9.5kW ground-mounted solar array, Teslar batteries, ICF construction and other passive house building principles. Along with the architectural design we carried out the landscaping plans for the pool and exterior entertainment areas and design for the interiors and finishes throughout the home which included four bathrooms of which we were awarded the NKBA 2020 Waikato Bathroom Excellence in Design Award for the master ensuite.

SIPs Construction
Tawa’s knowledge and understanding of Passive principles strongly informs their design approach giving them a critical understanding of thermal modelling using PHPP software, airtight and thermal-bridge free construction.
