By Chow:Hill Architects
Strengthening the heart of a developing neighbourhood was the inspiration behind Chow:Hill’s winning design for Te Kete Aronui Rototuna Library.
Chow:Hill’s design of the library in Hamilton’s burgeoning Rototuna Town Centre speaks to the local community and provides a cultural heart for the suburb. Designed in partnership with Designwell and AECOM, Chow:Hill’s vision reflects the community’s desire to have a distinctive and vibrant village feel.
The rich cultural heritage of the local whenua is woven into the contemporary aesthetic of this community asset and combined with a modern environment fit for future use. Outdoor spaces, bike and car parks and a village square are incorporated into the overall design, which aims to nurture and enthuse the Rototuna community and all who use the facilities.
Construction on the library, an integral part of the Rototuna Village development was completed in 2023.
