A Walnut & Concrete Culinary Space
Our clients were building their dream family home in the picturesque Darfield area and envisioned a stunning kitchen that would be the focal point of their living space. They visited our showroom in June 2023, where they immediately fell in love with one of our display kitchens.
This design features Leicht's 'Bossa’ Timber Veneer in Walnut — a wood-veneer front with 2mm deep embossed vertical channels. The island showcases Leicht’s hand-trowelled ‘Concrete’ cabinetry. The benchtops and splashback are in Neolith’s premium porcelain ‘Iron Copper’ with a satin finish, adding a touch of sophistication and texture.
Our clients requested handleless drawers and cupboards, so our designer, Pieta, used Leicht’s 'Tip-Soft-Close' mechanisms. For the kitchen island, we selected Leicht inset handles powder-coated in ‘Fossil Grey’.
The island was designed to be a standout feature, finished in ‘Concrete’ Manhattan, with thick legs on either side in the same material, grounding the seating area. Not only stunning – this area needed to be functional for a busy young family with island seating for a social and practical space.
They Bora 'Downdraft Cooktop', featuring recirculating ventilation, creates more storage in the cupboards above the cooking area.
Leicht cabinetry finishes lend themselves perfectly to architectural new builds. Here Pieta has lined the side and back wall with matching walnut timber veneer to seamlessly tie into the kitchen design. Walls, wall ends, and toe-kick returns in ‘Bossa’ completes the look.
Adjustable LED strip lighting in the floating shelves allows for both task and ambient lighting with varying strength and colour temperature.
As well as the benchtops, sinks were fabricated from Neolith for both the kitchen and scullery. Installed by AGB Stone in Christchurch, the Neolith ‘Iron Copper’ satin sinks and benches maintain the elegant aesthetic.
The end result is a truly unique, modern kitchen that blends practicality with beauty, perfectly reflecting our client’s vision for their new home.
