Te Whariki banner

Earthwork have been involved in the Ngai Tahu residential development, Te Whariki, since 2012.

The subdivision utilises a series of interconnected man-made wetlands that link the unique cultural history and ecological characteristics of the site.  These wetlands are central to the overall sense of place at Te Whariki.  Memorial gardens, recreation reserves, nature walks, streetscape planting, and sculptural features aid in telling the unique story of Te Whariki, and provide a pleasant environment for visitors and residents.

About the
Professional

Earthwork Landscape Architects is a practice based in Christchurch, New Zealand with a strong commitment to its client’s needs and the landscape, a clear philosophy and a history of top quality project delivery. The practice grew out of a rural location where it expanded its expertise in site planning and public design to a broad range of professional engagement. These original strengths in logical, well planned design and a commitment to the natural environment have been retained in our work.

The company now employs seven people, works throughout the South Island of New Zealand and overseas, across commercial, public and private projects. The practice has identified its core skills and these form the backbone of the multidisciplinary work that is now typically carried out. These core skills are site planning, landscape identity, communication and project delivery.
