Tucked away at the end of Montgomery Street; a non descript lane in the heart of Richmond, the alterations to this single storey cottage into a double storey dwelling for a growing family presents itself as small formal gesture. However its small appearance conceals a spatious and light filled interior and is an ode to simple living and maximising space. The use of cedar panelling to its upper floor extension with its distinctive formal gesture, is a contemporary nod to the heritage character of the existing cottage. A minimal palette of materials is carried through internally to assist in amplifying the space but also create a clean and crisp background for the resident's decor. Status: Completed
