Our brief was to create a work environment that would be versatile and appealing as a shared space. The original space had been rented by one business for 50 years and not a lot had been touched or remodelled in that time. The 100sqm office floor was a labyrinth of small dark offices and musty old carpet - but with great windows and opportunity for light. Our design intent was to create an open plan work environment with workspace layouts that could accommodate a number of businesses. The existing kitchen and bathrooms had a simple make-over to create modern and contemporary facilities, while the office space was gutted with all new hard surfaces - durable carpet, plywood panelling on walls and ceiling panels. Acoustic panels played a crucial role in the re-purposed meeting rooms to ensure privacy was maintained. Our favourite space - the dramatic wallpaper and deep green walls that form the entrance.

at.space is an Auckland based interior design studio, created by Alex McLeod and Tomi Williams in 2020. Working alongside each other as friends and colleagues for 8 years, they realised the greatness of two minds over one, when creating beautiful spaces that work. Combining forces was an opportunity to grow and continue to provide well considered and debated design solutions. Or simply put; more depth, more capacity, more creativity and double the passion, for every project.
The Award-winning studio’s small but visionary team consistently delivers spaces that matter; homes of character and depth, layers and nuances – places within which to enjoy every detail.
