By Viking Roofspec
Designed by renowned architects Mason and Wales, this stunning home was constructed on the peak of Queenstown Hill.
The roofing system was required to be installed in winter, a tricky time. Snow, ice and consistently below zero degrees Celsius temperatures would make installation difficult, issues with adhesion were anticipated. To solve this dilemma, Viking Roofspec suggested the specification on Viking Bituclad SBS (now called Viking GM Lybra SBS). As a two-layer torch-on system no adhesives were required, meaning adhesion issues due to the winter temperatures would be negated.
The specially-formulated S.B.S variety (styrene butadiene styrene) is designed to handle large temperature fluctuations between seasons without fracturing. In Queenstown, temperatures can be below 0 degrees Celsius in winter to above 30 degrees in summer. Thus, this torch-on system was a perfectly matched solution for this property in Queenstown.
The applicator was very pleased with the final result, commenting; “Viking Bituclad allowed us to complete the project in the harshest of temperatures and conditions and still get a perfect finish on time.”
NOTE - Viking Bituclad SBS has now been replaced with Viking GM Lybra SBS, this membrane is part of a new range of torch-on waterproofing systems offered by Viking.
