These homeowners built their Lockwood family home 25years ago and they intend to stay there for another 2-3 decades. To make the house better suited to today’s living we were given a brief to improve lighting, increase the kitchen area, add a second shower and ensure that the finished rooms had a timeless country feeling, with durable products. Another high priority was to replace the lights with fittings that performed well in rooms lined with timber, which we know can absorb 60% of light – the new fittings needed to suit the new decor.
The kitchen brief for this renovation was to have a bigger sink, bigger fridge, bigger oven, bigger hobb, more bench space and more storage. The house didn’t increase in size so with our new design we borrowed some space from the dining area to create a dedicated ‘baking zone’ that has island seating so the grandees can help, as in, lick clean the bowls.
We also added some wall cabinet storage beside the integrated range, and increased the overall height of cabinets. With our understanding ergonomics we included as many drawers as possible and used BLUM’s servo-drive systems on overhead cupboards, which have loads of platter storage compartments.
The relaxed country kitchen is enhanced with a double butlers sink, raw brass mixer and pull out spray, reeded glass to cupboards, pressed tin splashback and we are really pleased with how successful our slide out shelf design is for baking appliances.
With the bathroom design, we removed the wall which had separated the shower cubicle from the main bathroom in order to create a walk-in shower with two shower heads. The room is now completely tiled, in the same tile, which helps create the illusion of a larger room. We increased storage for this room by included a recessed mirror cabinet as well as wide drawers in the custom vanity. The oversized basin and gorgeous light above the mirror are focal points in this compact room.
I'm passionate about assisting clients express themselves within their home and workplace, by helping them find items and colours that mean they are surrounded by objects that make rooms feel joyful and welcoming to be in.
We love what we do, and work collaboratively with clients and suppliers, to achieve dreams and goals, whilst never loosing sight that the journey should be an enjoyable one.
Our approach is down to earth; we communicate openly, respect your time, try to delight you with a selection of options to choose from, document agreed decisions to make sure no one is relying on memory and follow up on deliveries to keep projects moving forward. We are also able to be your point of contact for trades to clarify details during site works.
We are based in the Central North Island which makes it easy for us to travel around the North Island to your site location. That's not to say we rule out working on projects in the South Island when the opportunity comes along.
