Sliding doors have moved well beyond their traditional role as practical room dividers. As cavity sliders become larger and more integrated into residential interiors, the hardware operating them needs to work harder without becoming more visually prominent.

That is the thinking behind the new 3000 Series from Halliday + Baillie, a new lock body developed specifically for larger, more architectural sliding doors. The series brings together a mortice privacy lock and a generously sized ergonomic pop-out handle, addressing a familiar tension between the discreet appearance expected of contemporary interiors and the substantial grip required to operate larger doors.

The first two products in the range are the HB3690 Sliding Door Privacy Lock and HB3630 Sliding Door Privacy Lock. The HB3690 uses a 170mm flush pull, while the HB3630 extends to 250mm, providing two proportions for different door scales and design requirements.

The defining detail is the handle itself. It pops out when the door needs to be pulled closed, providing a more substantial and comfortable grip, then retracts back into the door when not in use. This keeps the hardware visually quiet while retaining the functionality expected from a frequently used door.

It is a considered response to a broader shift in residential architecture, where doors increasingly form part of the spatial composition rather than sitting at its edges. Hardware therefore becomes less about adding a visible feature and more about resolving the point where material, movement and everyday use meet.

Designed and manufactured in New Zealand, the 3000 Series continues Halliday + Baillie’s focus on hardware that balances form, function and longevity.

The 3000 Series is part of a wider approach to specifying the smaller details that shape how an interior works and feels. Browse Halliday + Baillie’s sliding door hardware on ArchiPro alongside the HB3630 and HB3690 to consider the hardware within the wider door specification.
