Discover the latest inspiration in lighting design trends featuring Masson for Light’s innovative products. From linear pendants brightening a mid-century office in Sydney, to accent illumination in a Perth retail store, and intimate industrial lighting design at a bustling Melbourne café.
Amid the cultural inner-city suburb of Brunswick, Melbourne, Alphington Residence presents a warm and inviting sight. Its materiality of breezeblock brickwork, natural timber, and solid concrete allows this family retreat to balance high-end design with familiar comfort. Designed by Po-Co Architecture, the striking blend of mid-century design and modern finishes provides the serenity and timeless sophistication that minimalist design affords but with a warmer, less sterile feel.
Po-Co Architecture selected products from the Masson for Light architectural lighting collection to complement the home’s clean lines and natural textures, resulting in an understated yet impactful lighting design.
Richard Skelton, Sales & Product Design Manager at Masson for Light, notes, “We are seeing a warmer take on the popular minimalist lighting design, even as far as featuring brass and bronze finishes. All our products can be custom-toned for specifiers’ visions.”

When successful, Sydney-based media agency Joy moved its team into a heritage-listed warehouse building in inner Sydney. Style Merchants, in collaboration with Masson for Light, took a cohesive approach to the renovation's lighting design. The result is an integration of practical task lighting and mood-enhancing ambient pendants with the building's heritage architecture while still delivering a contemporary business space that suits the business’s namesake.
Featured lighting: Tubby and Bubby pendants, Apollo spotlight, Phoebe LED and Arena pendant
Designed by IF Architecture, the Jardan store in Perth is housed in a historic sandstone building, utilising the rich history of the space with contemporary elements providing a backdrop to the beautiful Australian-made furniture. Drawing on Australia’s firm connection to the landscape, the architectural team was inspired by the tones and romance of Western Australia’s wildflower season.
Masson for Light’s lighting plan included the supply of fittings manufactured locally in its Melbourne factory. The Jardan store features track spotlights mounted on recessed Dali tracks throughout the space. These spotlights offer accent lighting with precise beam angles to highlight the furniture pieces within the collections. Layers of accent illumination are complemented by downlights, which provide additional ambient lighting in circulation spaces.
Richard remarks, “Certain light finishes seem to be returning. Powder-coated silver or white is currently the most requested after the previous dominance of black feature lighting for the last 10 years.”
Featured lighting: Tullyspot Pro track and Mondo Round COB downlight.
Designed by Maria Danos Architects, Mister and Miss Café features custom-made light fixtures manufactured and supplied by Masson for Light. These industrial-style black bespoke light fittings set the mood and honour the design intent of a moody and sophisticated place to meet clients while remaining cosy enough for lunch with friends.
