Our client defined they wanted a practical space which would be a joy to use and easy to maintain while creating a lasting impression of opulence. She asked for a change in layout of the vanity and shower area to add more space and high-end, luxurious fittings to bring a look of grandeur. We were also asked to change the bath to a larger freestanding bath and create easy access to the shower area. 

Our team was very excited to deliver on Catherine’s dream project. 

Overall look & feel

Our client was specific about having a unique ambience with premium fittings and finish. With budget not being her first priority on this much awaited renovation, she wanted us to ensure we focussed on building a deluxe space that their family and guests would love to use. 

We built the entire space to have a look of luxury which is contemporary and unique. By using high quality, premium materials and fittings, the bathroom space has been transformed into a warm, luxurious and inviting space of personal wellbeing. 

Spaciousness and practicality are the other factors that we have thoughtfully considered. All areas of the bathroom are easy to maintain and durable to moisture to also be long-lasting. By balancing the brighter and warmer aspects of the colours across the space, we delivered on the brief for style, luxury and uniqueness. 

Materials

The shower cabin is built with a 10mm thick tempered glass that is not only durable but very easy to clean. This tiled 1800mm x 1200mm massive walk-in shower uses the same flooring as the entire bathroom floor and walls which adds a continuous flow and grandness of space. A matching raised ledge on the flooring completes the look while keeping the shower water inside.

The flooring and walls feature beautiful French themed glazed Porcelain tiles in 600mmx600mm from Tile Depot. This is the Vaucluse Bossa Nova matte finish range in Grey concrete colour, chosen for creating a look of continuity with their smooth finish. These tiles represent the limestone used in the Louvre by merging elegant aesthetics with a natural look of vintage stone. 

We also painted the interior with Resene interior Alabaster which is one of their most popular ranges. This shade gives a warm, aged look to white to lift up the room visually. 

All fittings and fixtures are premium, classy choices by our client who loved the brushed Nickel theme from our high-end supplier Reece Plumbing. Together with the client we selected bath and toilet fittings which will complement the flooring and walls. We have also strategically used glass shelves to add fancy touches. 

Bathroom Vanity & Storage

We installed a wall hung vanity with a countertop basin. A wall hung vanity provides a visual of increased spaciousness by freeing up the floor below. This also allows for easier cleaning and the increased comfort of standing closer to the counter. 

This vanity has double drawers for plenty of storage of cleaning and personal products. The handle free design of the soft solid driftwood gives a smooth finish especially with the lighting. 

We installed a countertop Moo 415 basin from Reece for a high quality visual style element in the bathroom. This is sure to draw attention and create a stylish feature and focal point.

Countertop sinks are more modern than a traditional vanity and allow more storage space because they don’t have to sit flush in the middle of the surface or counter, and this means more space for toiletries and important accessories. The higher sides prevent excess water from spilling out of the sink basin and onto the counter.

Bathroom Fittings & Fixtures

As a grand feature we added an oval freestanding bath (Kado Lux) of 1750 x 800mm for those luxurious soaks after a long day. The wall mount bath spout and mixer are the Milli Glance Brushed Nickel range from Reece to match the opulence of the bathtub with its captivating look and brass finish.

We also installed a new rimless toilet from the Kado Lux range to match. Rimless toilets are highly hygienic and so easy to clean due to not trapping bacteria. An accompanying toilet roll holder from the Mizu Drift Brushed Nickel range from Reece.
The shower water mixer and slider is also the Mizu range Stream Brushed Nickel putting simplicity and elegance forward in this slimline design. The basin tap and mixer is wall mounted and also is from the same range, looking minimalistic and stylish. A handy niche in the shower cabin was installed to store personal items.

For elegant finishing touches to make the bathroom space complete we installed 2 heated towel rails from the Mizu stream range in Brushed Nickel. A glass shelf to hold personal accessories and products and a 900mm round LED mirror with auto demist function for on-demand clarity. A pop-up waste bin from the Mizu brushed Nickel series completes the premium look. A powerful extractor is also installed to draw out moisture from the bathroom.

We cleverly illuminated the space with unique lighting touches. We added Phillip LED ceiling light from J. A Russell Ltd. And painted all the doors and windows with a warm Resene interior Alabaster paint which is durable and premium.
