Set on a fabulous landscape in the hills of Cambrians village, between the Dunstan Ranges and Mt. Saint Bathans, this family residence had a clear brief; to capture the magnificent, ever-changing views of the Hawkdun ranges in the distance. Two dominant stone walls - at 90 degrees of each other - anchor the building and provide shelter and a cohesive relationship with the landscape. They organise the house by keeping the sleeping wings and utilities clearly separated. At the centre, the social area is well positioned, framing all possible views of the outdoors.
