New Community Library Ngā Kete Mātauranga
A new library space for Poririua. Designed for light, warmth and space for the community.
We worked along side David Hakaria to create custom grooved acoustic panels depicting 5 Kaitiaki, that overlook the space and a feature entrance wall with recycled Rimu and PET acoustic felt.
We worked with Etch Architects to create a unique reception counter utilising our FOLD timber tiles and custom Rimu edged Linoleum worktop. The Ridge Fold Tile used on the front of the counter creates a depth and a shift of light on the surface. We worked with David Hakaria to incorporate patterning on each tile, laser etched prior to folding and back filled with a deep black paint. The pattern appears as you move past and the light angle changes.
The space is an amazing success, with beautiful landscaping, views over cannons creek a warm, quite welcoming space for the community and local kids in particular.
