A charming farmhouse-style home blending modern amenities with the character of the countryside, featuring exquisite craftsmanship and unique custom elements.
The homeowners of this extensive 389 square metres home have lived most of their days on a farm. The majority of their work was focused on the farm, so for them to be in a position to be able to build a home of their own on the land was a real privilege.
Simplexity Builders understood their clients’ reverence for the land and so knew they needed to do the very best job they could. Simplexity Builders are passionate about building homes in which anyone would be proud to live in.
The Darfield home has an incredible welcome, with large stone pillars at the entranceway and wrought iron gates. Canadian yellow cedar was used on the exterior alongside a Rockcote exterior. Inside, the large vaulted ceiling is an example of the superior craftsmanship and the meticulous nature of the team’s work, made with hundreds of narrow planks of cedarwood.
There’s a certain charm and character that you just can’t find in a city home here. The farmhouse-style home has modern amenities but holds so much of that roaming farmland style.
The living area is cosy and inviting, with a large open fireplace that’s a rarity in Canterbury. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and offer plenty of storage. There are beautiful examples of custom-made items that really add to the character of the home, including a custom vanity made from an old copper pot and a light made from old ram’s horns.
