Frederick Street

Over 300 lineal metres of Avon framed glass balustrade and 100 lineal metres of custom louvre fin privacy screens across a 12-storey residential tower in central Wellington. Designed by Archaus and built by McKeefehl, Frederick Street Apartments needed a balustrade system that would hold up across a large number of balconies and communal areas while keeping a consistent line on the building's industrial-style facade. UNEX supplied its Avon Framed Glass Balustrade for this, paired with custom-designed louvre fin full-height privacy screens. Aligned Balustrades, a UNEX Commercial Supply Partner, handled fabrication and installation across the full run of balustrades and screens, working directly with the project team to keep the fixing detail consistent floor to floor. The finished building carries a uniform balustrade and screen system across all 12 storeys, balancing resident privacy and safety with the architect's exterior design intent.
