About
The iconic Hermitage Hotel in Mt Cook required a refurbishment to 60 of their hotel rooms, lift lobbies and common areas. Surrounded by the unique context of Mount Cook, the spirit of the unique landscape inspired the flooring, wall, furniture selections and joinery design.
Carpet tiles were introduced to the hotel rooms and hallways to allow for easy installation and maintenance. The tile designs selected are reflective of the volcanic, textural and evolving tracks surrounding the hotel.
Drawing inspiration from the mountains, the wall finishes and window treatments were selected to capture the texture and form of Mount Cook. Glossy tiles & textured wall finishes were paired with feature lighting to capture the dramatic, ever-changing external environment.
The Super King rooms features a centralised bed, orientated towards the window making the view the focal point of the space.The headboard/desk is a specialised joinery piece integrating desk lamps that double as bedside lights.
