Award-winning contemporary holiday home featuring three interconnected buildings, a floating concrete floor, and bespoke joinery, nestled near Kaiteriteri beach.

An award winning design in the Nelson/Marlborough Architectural Awards, this contemporary holiday home is sophisticated and practical. A series of three individual buildings linked by glass breezeways. A private haven to rest while Kaiteriteri beach is close by.

The location of the building platform was positioned on the estuary, which resulted in 100 piles being driven to create a floating concrete floor.

Each of the separate buildings have been constructed using a Portius Framing System. This system creates a water-proof building within a few days.

The exterior of the building comprises three different Abodo cladding systems.  Vertical weatherboard, horizontal weatherboard and Plywood with 3 dimensional battens.

Inside, the walls were pre-finished plywood from ‘Ply Play’ with selected painted walls in other areas for contrast.

The kitchen, bunkroom and bathrooms feature bespoke joinery.

Professional Reviews

1 / 5

“We wanted a builder who would be predominately ‘on site’ and would take charge of the construction process, use initiative, but work closely with us, despite our home base being Dunedin. Finishing the complete job inside and out with outdoor shower area, terraces, lawns and garden areas was also important to us. Jason’s work site was always well organised, with health and safety paramount. It was obvious that the team had a knowledgeable, well-respected leader who supervised closely to ensure a meticulous standard was achieved. Workflow continued with little interruption with his excellent forward planning and by using sub-contractors in whom he had confidence. Jason Frater has become more than a superb builder who takes true pride in his work – he has become a good friend. Even though the house is finished, we are still able to enlist Jason’s services for the small projects that arise. We love our Little Kaiteriteri home and all our visitors can’t help but notice the attention to detail that is indicative of an excellent builder.”
