Positioned on the shores of Lake Hāwea, this contemporary residence was designed to blur the boundaries between indoors and out. The homeowners wanted every space to feel connected to the surrounding landscape, creating a home that embraces the ever-changing lake and mountain views while maintaining a sense of warmth and comfort.

From the moment you arrive, subtle LED step lighting creates a welcoming entrance, while carefully positioned exterior lighting enhances the home's striking architectural form after dark without competing with its natural surroundings.

A defining feature of the home is the 12-metre-long connecting hallway, illuminated by a continuous recessed track system. FLOS spotlights have been thoughtfully positioned to highlight the owners' artwork, while discreet FLOS Multi Spot Mini fittings provide soft pathfinding light, creating a gallery-like experience that guides you through the home.

Throughout the kitchen and living spaces, iGuzzini Laser Blade luminaires deliver exceptional illumination while remaining virtually invisible within the ceiling. This minimalist approach allows the dramatic timber ceiling and architectural detailing to remain the focus, proving that the best lighting often goes unnoticed.

Above the custom booth dining area hangs a beautiful statement pendant selected by the homeowners themselves. Featuring iconic brushed brass swallows, the fitting pays tribute to the surrounding landscape and native birdlife, perfectly reflecting the home's connection to nature.

Halcyon Lighting products are featured throughout the residence, carefully selected to showcase the home's premium finishes. In the bathrooms, the Mini-Cevon range beautifully accentuates the stunning greenstone feature walls, bringing depth, texture and richness to the natural material.

The luxury Hāwea is a project we're incredibly proud to have delivered. Designed by Wayne Pretty and brought to life through the dedication of our installation team, led by Phil Jones, this home represents the level of craftsmanship, collaboration and attention to detail that defines every Pretty Sweet Lighting project. Integrated lighting details that elevate the architecture. Carefully positioned LED strip lighting within the joinery and beneath the fireplace kicker creates subtle layers of illumination, achieved through close collaboration with the architects and meticulous attention to installation.

Recessed Iguzzini Laser Blade fittings provide precise, comfortable illumination throughout the living space while preserving the uninterrupted connection to the lake and surrounding landscape.

A continuous 12-metre recessed track system creates a gallery-like journey through the home, with FLOS Light Shadow Spot Lights highlighting artwork, alongside discreet Multi Spot Mini fittings providing subtle pathfinding light.

A lighting system designed around the way spaces are lived in. The FLOS Tracking Magnet provides effortless flexibility, allowing fittings to be repositioned with ease while maintaining a refined architectural aesthetic.

A seamless transition between kitchen and dining, where layered lighting creates a space that adapts to every occasion. Integrated LED detailing within the kitchen provides subtle ambient illumination, while the sculptural Artemide Yanzi suspension pendant becomes a defining feature above the dining area.

A carefully considered pendant cluster creates a soft, atmospheric glow, casting beautiful shadows across the space while allowing the natural texture and richness of the tiles to shine.

A carefully executed lighting detail that celebrates craftsmanship and form. Integrated LED strip lighting follows the curve of the bathroom wall, beautifully accentuating the natural texture and shape of the greenstone tiles while enhancing the architectural flow of the space.

Extending the lighting experience beyond the interior, concealed LED strip lighting beneath the staircase creates a subtle floating effect, adding depth and drama to the exterior pathway. Complemented by Halcyon R534 Cevon Darklight Minis, the space is softly illuminated with precision and restraint.

One of our favourite ways to transform an exterior — subtle, considered, and beautifully effective. The Halcyon Cube EX909 wall lights are doubled up to create a striking yet understated glow, enhancing the texture and form of the architecture after dark.
