Local Concrete, Global Performance
Holcim New Zealand was proud to support the delivery of Motutawa Skatepark (formerly Avalon Skate Park) with high-performance concrete tailored to the demands of a modern skate facility. All concrete was supplied from Holcim’s Kiwi Point Plant in Wellington, including:
- 30MPa standard concrete
- 30MPa shotcrete
- Monte Carlo from Holcim’s Coloured Concrete Range
The inclusion of Monte Carlo coloured concrete added both visual distinction and lasting durability, helping to create a smooth, resilient surface suited to everyday use by skaters, scooter riders, and BMX riders alike.

Designed for Now—and What’s Next
Global skatepark design specialists Convic led the design process, working alongside a local advisory group of skating advocates and industry experts. The result is a purpose-built, internationally benchmarked facility that balances technical performance with social inclusion—anchoring it firmly in the needs and culture of Lower Hutt.
Building Better, Together
Motutawa Skatepark is a powerful example of how quality materials, local expertise, and thoughtful design can transform public space. Holcim New Zealand is proud to have contributed to a project that supports sustainable, active lifestyles—today and into the future.
