Red Stag Reception

Website

The brief to us for this project was to create a welcoming, airy reception space that would include timber products from the mill. We designed the custom desk, all custom cabinetry in the different zones (kitchenette, mail distribution, storage for visitor PPE), and specified the finishes, lighting, colours and supplied the comfortable red chairs for visitors.

Building on the architects expansive form, which included 7m high ceilings, we chose to make the wall colour neutral using a warm tone, to help show case the laminated beams and glulam walls. These products have also been enhanced with lighting.

The floor finishes needed to be stylish, durable and practical; appealing to visiting members of parliament, clients (some international) and everyone who works in the mill. Pops of the Red Stag brand colour 'red' have been incorporated into the room also.

Working with suppliers during the design process, with the goal to bring out the best features of each element, has resulted in the stunning timber slabs in the reception desk (laminated redwood and rimu), 3D logo, display of a retired saw blade and custom made timber mountain bike - we feel this space invites people to interact with display items and Red Stag products.

The large wall areas also offer a canvas for messages, mill photographs and milestones which will continue to refresh and update as years progress.
