Being an architect, the client designed this beautiful little haven in the beachy suburb of Sumner, to escape from the demands of a city. This architectural home is one bedroom and the words they used to describe the kitchen was relaxing and creative.
A narrow section meant there were limitations within the kitchen. The clients love entertaining, so a dining table inbuilt with the kitchen space which can then be separated if they needed too, was a great solution. The narrow kitchen meant we could not get the ideal space between bench or behind seating, so the designer made sure the ovens were in a clearing, and other appliances did not interfere with anything. The clients were passionate about more storage over bench space, so we made sure there was ample pantry with clever storage solutions such as internal drawers. Another request was higher benchtop and ovens due to their height.
Ply edges, Caesarstone benchtop and addition of a herb garden, creates a relaxing space and this was used throughout the house to create cohesion. The kitchen down from the ceiling with ambient lighting shows off the architectural lines and the clients really love this at night, saying it’s very special.
