World leadership in sustainable design
This beautiful distinctive building showcasing Māori cultural influences and narratives sits nestled in a landscaped green corridor, forming part of the regeneration of Tauranga's civic precinct known as Te Manawataki o Te Papa. The library hub houses flexible community spaces, a cafe and meetings rooms.
The project has received a 6 Star Green Star Design rating by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) - making this building a world leader in sustainability.
Thermosash engineered, manufactured and installed the distinctive facade - the high-performance building envelope was developed through facade optimisation analysis, daylight modelling and thermal performance analysis to reduce operational demand and improve occupant comfort. Our sustainability team provides analysis and reporting to support the achievement of project specific sustainability goals including Green Star ratings.
The project success was achieved through collaboration with Studio Pacific Architecture, L.T. McGuinness and the other key stakeholders and consultants across the project lifecycle.
The building compliments the adjacent Civic Whare, Exhibition & Museum which is still under construction, designed by Warren and Mahoney with L.T. McGuinness as the main contractor and Thermosash delivering the facade.
