Nau Mai House - a modern day castle video
Nau Mai House - a modern day castle
From the entrance to Nau Mai House, you are faced with a large monolithic stone form with a roof that appears to float above.
Lit up at night, the texture of the stone expresses itself and glimpses of the interior reveal themselves through the slits in the form.
The timber and stone staircase can be seen through the glazed element of the front door. Under-lit steps add drama to the entrance.
At the back of the home, the house opens up to an outdoor entertaining space, with decked swimming pool and spa pool area.
A wall of glazed sliding doors reveals the open-plan kitchen/dining/lounge area inside. A covered teppanyaki bar is nestled under the overhang.
The sheltered, landscaped lounge area and teppanyaki bar enjoys a wide outdoor fireplace by Living Flame.
The Poliform kitchen features an expansive wall of cabinetry with built-in wine fridges and a long black island with a chunky timber breakfast bar.
The kitchen and lounge area leads out into the outdoor entertaining area.
Built-in wine fridges are a feature of the dark timber-veneer cabinetry and provides a strong contrast to the polished concrete floors.
The bottom of the timber and stone staircase.
American oak stair treads add warmth against the stone and concrete.
One of the bathrooms features a glass pendant light and metallic-specked tiles.
The black tiled shower area.
The bedroom is crisp and ethereal in white with soft tones of green and grey.
The en-suite bathroom is clad in horizontal timber paneling and large-format tiles

About the
Professional

With over 20 years experience and an extensive portfolio of award winning homes, O'Neil Architecture has built a solid reputation designing architectural homes.

Founder and Principal Architectural Designer Darren O’Neil leads this small boutique office, along with Senior Designer Jacinda Shirley, Senior Technical Designer Phil Ngenang, and Practice Manager Lucy Ross. We specialise and focus on high quality residential design with the purpose of providing exceptional outcomes by intentionally limiting the number of projects undertaken.

Whilst being design driven, our practice has a firm interest in the feasibility and pragmatics of construction. We listen to your needs and amalgamate your brief with our aesthetic direction, the specific site requirements, and environmental considerations. Our priority is ensuring our documentation is of the highest quality to assist your builder in creating an inspired, timeless, and elegant home.

This comprehensive approach provides our clients with the stress free, rewarding experience they deserve; and a truly superb house that will exceed all expectations.

We offer professional services from conception to completion. We’re different because we do not apply a standard percentage like many other practices. Each project is assessed and quoted individually, our fee structure is competitive and depending on the project we can usually offer a fixed price quotation.
