Honeycomb blinds in particular get their name from the shape of the blind, which has a honeycomb structure. They trap air to provide an additional layer of insulation and they can even help cancel out noise.

These are also very elegant looking in a modern home and come in a wide range of colors. They are easy to use as they have a pull string or cord. Cordless shades are also available to keeps children and pets safe, and are a good idea for avoiding the occasional tangles. 

Some cellular shades include the option of automation, allowing the blinds to open and close on a set schedule. The schedule can be seasonally optimised to reduce heating and cooling loads while maximising natural light and home comfort.

These cellular shades can also come with the option of an inside mount installed within the window frame, creating a clean, custom look. An outside mount shade is installed outside of or onto the window trim, covering the entire window frame. 

The inside mount is the most popular option for cellular shades. The outside mount ones are more energy efficient because they block more heat and light. Unlike normal windows shades, cellular shades are made of soft paper material. 

Normally, spun lace and bonded polyester are used to make them, which gives them a sophisticated look in any home. Most other shades are normally made with plastic or wood. 

Types of Honeycomb Blind

Single Cell Shades

These have one row or layer of cells that stack on top of each other. These shades provide a clean and stylish look. They are also cheaper than their counterparts. Since only one row of fabric is needed. Single-cell shades are affordable and still do their job of keeping noise and unwanted heat or cold out.

Double Honeycomb Blinds

A double cell shade or double honeycomb blinds, has intertwined rows of cells. This gives it 2 layers of cells. One layer is closest to the outside while the other is closest to the room it’s in. When it comes to keeping cold and heat out, double cell shades do a better job at it than single. 

This is largely due to its double rows of fabric. They also offer noise reduction. Similar to temperature transfer, noise reduction does the same thing. While they both work at doing each job, double cell shades do it better.

Honeycomb Blackout Blinds

Honeycomb blackout blinds offer the freedom to completely darken a room and provide enormous privacy. They are perfectly suited for bedrooms, home theaters, home offices, and even nurseries. These shutters block light and reduce noise for better sleep. Blackout capabilities are enhanced with the addition of light blockers to each side.

Thermal Honeycomb Blinds

These are specifically designed to help either trap heat in a room, preventing it from escaping, or help keep a home cooler in the winter by reflecting sunlight away from windows. These blinds are best suited for bedrooms. They can be put up anywhere, but nothing beats a nice cozy bedroom during the winter months.

Maintenance

• Dead Bugs

Cellular shades are made with fabric so they are more susceptible to dirt and dust. One of the most common problems is dealing with dead bugs in the cells, but a can of compressed air can blow them out easily. A hairdryer could also substitute for compressed air. Then just vacuum what falls on the floor.

• Dust or Turning grey

Removing dust from the shades can be easy. Just use a vacuum and attach the hose brush to it. Swipe across the shade gently in horizontal strokes. Using the brush will prevent the fabric from being sucked up into the vacuum. 

For just dust or everyday clean-up, one could also use a lint roller. Cleaning with water should be the last resort because this may cause the pleats to misshapen.
