The rail station at Parnell sees the majority of its patronage head towards the University of Auckland central business district campus and local student housing centres. To aid this, Auckland Transport with funding from the Waitemata Local Board, looked to install a new 167m raised boardwalk along the edge of the Auckland Domain and connect with Nicholls Lane.

JFC was selected due to our expertise in constructing while limiting the impact on the adjacent park users, residents, and rail commuters.

Works included the cutback of the adjacent embankment and construction of a new retaining wall, a new concrete landing at the station’s entrance (constructed in compliance with supplied ticket gating specifications), and construction of 167m raised timber boardwalk with new landscaping and street lighting.
