Ferndale Estate Gable Showhome

Sitting on a site elevated from the road, and adjacent to a native bush gully, this site had a small building platform to work with and northerly aspect with views across to a reserve.
A 2 storey option was explored but it become too dominant and so a single story house was developed to nestle into the site.
Built with natural materials and energy efficient principals, the home meets the strict design criteria of the Ferndale eco subdivision and achieved a Homestar design rating of 6 – far exceeding the requirements of the NZ Building Code.
A simple layout maximises the space available, with ample storage and a well thought out Living, Dining, Kitchen area which incorporates a “hidden” pantry and a study nook.
The interior is enhanced by the use of a pitched ceiling and feature walls of cedar weatherboard.
