The Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree is a groundbreaking "Super Low Energy" (SLE) eco-resort designed by Singapore-based WOW Architects. Nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the architecture is inspired by the native Liana vine, featuring a branching form that meanders through the forest to minimize its ecological footprint. The resort is elevated several meters above the ground, allowing native wildlife to move freely beneath the structures. A standout feature is the 24 seed-pod-shaped treehouses suspended among the canopy, offering guests an immersive experience in the heart of the jungle. This project sets a global precedent for regenerative hospitality, where architecture doesn't just sit within nature but actively works to restore and enhance it.
