At Ngāmotu House in New Plymouth, Offspring Profiles’ Richie Rail 20 illuminated handrail, with IP67-rated red LEDs and marine-grade stainless steel, enhances both wayfinding and cultural storytelling in this iwi-led commercial refurbishment.

Ngāmotu House, located in New Plymouth, is a deeply considered redevelopment led by Boon Architects in collaboration with Te Ātiawa and Ngāti Te Whiti, weaving Te Ātiawa cultural narrative into every layer of the building.

Offspring Profiles supplied the Richie Rail 20 illuminated handrail for this project. Crafted from 316 marine-grade stainless steel and paired with an IP67‑rated LED strip, the handrail is robust and suited to high-traffic use.

The rail’s striking red LEDs serve a functional role—providing wayfinding light—and a symbolic one, echoing the cultural identity embedded throughout the building’s design.

Through this installation, Offspring Profiles helped deliver a lighting solution that is both practical and expressive, enhancing the building’s architectural flow while reflecting its deep-rooted Te Ātiawa heritage.
