Terrace Dental Group Fitout designed in conjunction with Wright Gray Architects.
Going to the dentist? Expect to sit in a sterile cold looking waiting room and smelling the antiseptic mouthwash drifting down the hallway?
Nope! Not when you visit Terrace Dental Group’s practice rooms!
From the moment you step out of the elevator you are led via a timber veneer wall into the granite accented reception area that has liquorice all-sorts type carpet tiles that lead the way down the hallway to a surpise waiting area hidden behind the veneer wall.
The partners of this practice were adamant that they wanted a residential lounge type feel to their waiting and reception areas. It was to be warm and inviting and to promote an atmosphere reminiscent of a residential home lounge – so Simone sourced a warm timber veneer used on the vertical slatted walls that curve around a separate lounge housing comfortable David Shaw chairs and sofas made especially for this project. The furniture was to be suitable for all ages, heights and shapes and sizes of people and not at all what you would normally see in a dental practice – Simone chose furniture pieces and fabrics that would stand the test of time for wearability given that their clients consisted of working professionals, the elderly and young families and meet fire rating codes. Colours echo the orange, grey, blue, white and charcoal in the liquorice all-sorts detail carpet tiles but to enhance the residential feel to the area Simone used textural fabrics and damask patterns.
Practice areas are clearly defined by the use of colour in the carpet and wall claddings. The sterilisation room was discretely hidden behind high gloss white walls in the same shape used for the waiting area. Not shown is a staff breakout area with its own little banquette seating area in orange, grey, silver and white.
Patients have reported directly to Simone how much they love the dental practice – this confirms that the client’s brief of “A residential lounge and textural, colourful dental practice” was met and the result is successful.
