Selection Process

For this project, the La Palma Axminster carpet by Catherine Martin was an inspired choice. Featuring bold patterns and a lush design, this selection set the tone for the entire venue. Its high-performance qualities made it the perfect fit for a bustling hospitality destination, balancing durability with striking aesthetics. Collaboration between Ewert Leaf and Designer Rugs ensured every detail—from colourway to composition and scale—aligned seamlessly with the project’s vision. Close attention to sampling and refinement left no stone unturned in guaranteeing the desired result.

Customisation and Adaptation

Customisation was paramount to the success of this project. While the vibrant La Palma carpet added a visual statement, Ewert Leaf worked hand-in-hand with the Designer Rugs studio to create a bespoke complementary design, known as the ‘Fallen Leaves’ pattern. This secondary design was meticulously tailored to harmonise with the hero La Palma carpet. Although richly creative, this customised solution needed to withstand the heavy footfall of a hospitality environment. Durable construction, coupled with refined aesthetics, ensured that both the La Palma and Fallen Leaves designs imbued the space with luxury and practicality.

Challenges and Collaboration

No project is complete without its share of challenges, but clear and open communication was the key to overcoming them. Designer Rugs, Business Development Manager VIC/SA/WA, Fiona Jack's ’flexibility and proactive approach was instrumental in ensuring adjustments and refinements were seamlessly addressed. “Designer Rugs demonstrated exceptional proactivity and flexibility, addressing any challenges that arose and ensuring the project remained on track while staying true to its original vision.” Rachel Santos, Interior Designer- Ewert Leaf.

The Result

Form Meets Function: The selected rugs and carpets form the heart of The Club’s design narrative, successfully elevating its aesthetic appeal while catering to its practical necessities. The La Palma carpet’s vibrant patterns draw guests into the Palm Springs-inspired space, while the custom Fallen Leaves design offers cohesion and flow across various zones. Together, they create an elevated experience that invites warmth, immersion, and comfort into every corner.
