A timeless villa kitchen that seamlessly blends heritage charm with contemporary living.

This Wellington villa underwent a complete kitchen transformation, with the original kitchen stripped back and redesigned from the ground up. While every element of the space is new, one feature was always destined to remain – the home's beautiful original brick fireplace. Preserving this character element became the anchor for the design, allowing the new kitchen to feel both timeless and connected to the home's heritage.

From our very first meeting, the clients' brief was clear. At the top of their wish list was a steel-framed glazed display cabinet where they could showcase their favourite glassware, ceramics and serving pieces. Positioned beside the fireplace, the illuminated cabinet has become a striking focal point, balancing the warmth of the aged brick with crisp contemporary lines and adding depth and interest to the room.

The kitchen itself was designed with entertaining and everyday family life in mind. A generous island provides ample preparation space while also creating a natural gathering place for family and friends. Classic shaker-style cabinetry is paired with elegant marble-look benchtops, brushed stainless steel tapware and understated hardware, creating a refined palette that will stand the test of time.

Storage was another key priority. Every cabinet has been carefully considered, including a hidden pantry with internal shelving and lighting, ensuring there is a place for everything while maintaining the clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Integrated appliances and thoughtful joinery details allow the kitchen to function beautifully without compromising its classic appearance.

The result is a kitchen that feels effortlessly elegant while remaining highly practical. It respects the heritage of the villa by celebrating the original fireplace, yet introduces contemporary detailing, exceptional storage and bespoke joinery that will serve the family for many years to come. It is a wonderful example of how old and new can work together in perfect harmony.
