Composite decking is quickly becoming the go-to choice for homeowners and builders seeking a durable, low-maintenance alternative to traditional timber.
Unlike timber, composite decking is engineered to withstand the elements without rotting, warping, or splintering. Best of all, it doesn’t require the ongoing upkeep that timber demands, such as seasonal oiling or sealing, making it an ideal solution for those looking for a beautiful, hassle-free outdoor space that lasts for years.
But not all composite decking is made equal, shares Jerremy Clarke from Hurford’s. Trex* Transcend composite decking is an eco-friendly range at the cutting edge of composite decking innovation.
“Not only is Trex a very eco-friendly product it is also very low maintenance compared to traditional hardwood decking options. Depending on the decking chosen, a timber deck may last about 20 years but it requires extensive upkeep to maintain and protect, costing significant time and money,” shares Jerremy. “Trex composite decking is extremely durable and backed by a 50-year limited residential fade and stain warranty.”
Trex Transcend Lineage features a sophisticated woodgrain pattern.
Eco-friendly composite decking
Trex composite decking stands out not only for its durability but also for its eco-friendly design. Made from an innovative blend of up to 95% recycled materials, including reclaimed sawdust and recycled plastic film, it offers an environmentally responsible alternative to traditional decking. This unique composition of approximately half recycled hardwood and half recycled plastics diverts significant amounts of waste from landfills, making it one of the most eco-friendly decking products on the market today.
“On top of that, Trex uses some of the most earth-friendly manufacturing processes in the world, reclaiming factory waste and eliminating the use of harmful chemicals. Trex offers consumers a truly environmentally responsible choice with our recycled components,” shares Jerremy.
By repurposing materials that would otherwise go to waste, homeowners can enjoy a high-performance deck that’s not only stylish and long-lasting but also contributes to a more sustainable environment—perfect for those who want to minimise their carbon footprint without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
Heat-reflecting technology makes Trex Transcend the ideal decking for enjoying your outdoor space in the heat of summer.
Composite decking with heat-reflecting technology
Since the development of the Trex Transcend Premium Tropicals range, Trex has taken cooling technology to the next level. There’s nothing worse than wanting to enjoy the outdoors barefoot and having your feet burnt by hot decking boards. That’s why Trex developed the Transcend Lineage range which features new heat-reflecting technology, engineered to keep your deck cooler underfoot. The Lineage range also has a slightly different look and texture on the surface, featuring a modern brushed texture with no repeat patterns in the grain.
Composite decking with a seamless aesthetic
The more contemporary feel of Transcend Lineage is further enhanced by an expanded range of four more colour options, which feature a cool medley of calming silver tones mimicking a weathered look, toasty brown and grey undertones reflecting white sands, and darker, vibrant reddish-black hues resembling tropical and realistic grain patterns.
Both Transcend and Transcend Lineage offer a concealed fixing system to create a seamless look. To achieve this, the grooved boards allow for hidden fixing throughout the deck and the square boards are used for fascia and perimeter boards where fixing to a joist is not possible. Colour-matched screws and plugs complete the streamlined decking aesthetic.
This seamless look can transform outdoor spaces in a way that is difficult to achieve using timber decking, says Jerremy.
“We recently supplied a Trex composite deck to a homeowner who was building their last property; they wanted a low maintenance home that not only looked great but would also last until they decided to downsize,” shares Jerremy. “Trex was the decking of choice for them as they loved the colour and had the peace of mind knowing the decking will last the distance without having to do any ongoing maintenance.”
Trex is currently working on new products, colours and technology and has a new Signature Range featuring the latest composite decking innovations arriving soon.
