Cost-effective and easy to install with a modern aesthetic, this roofing profile is proving popular for residential and commercial builds.

Experts in architectural sheet metal installation to create impressive spaces that seamlessly blend style and functionality, R.B. Customs work on projects of all sizes across Auckland.

Built in collaboration with Jalcon Homes, the recent Hendon Ave project is an example of R. B. Customs' impeccable craftsmanship.

As you enter the apartments, you will be greeted by the white Super Seam panels, meticulously laid in a barcode style, evoking a sense of contemporary artistry. The use of knotty pine interlocking panels adds a touch of rustic charm, perfectly complementing the modern architectural design. The wood effect of these interlocking panels not only enhances the visual appeal but also creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, inviting you to relax and unwind.

“In collaboration with Jalcon Homes, this project showcases our expertise as architectural sheet metal specialists in creating exquisite living spaces that seamlessly blend style and functionality,” says R.B. Customs' Micah Rojas.

“Standing seam profiles, like used in this project, are cheaper than other options – but they give the same aesthetic.”

With a ribbed profile, this roofing style typically presents aesthetic shadow lines and can be used for roofing and cladding applications. Many variations, such as Eurostyle Spanlok, can be installed without the need for solid substrate support – directly fixed to purlins and girts, significantly reducing construction costs.

“There are a few different suppliers in New Zealand that supply the same kind of profile, but they just all have a different name for it. The Roofing Store does their own version as well called the Super Seam panels,” says Rojas.

Providing sleek lines and wider pans without the additional cost of a substrate, therefore reducing costs, Super Seam is a wide tray roofing system roll formed in single-length trays, hidden and fixed to purlins. The trays are snapped together using hidden clips which are specially designed over and under the tray. This system allows for much greater flexibility in design than other standard long-run profiles and is an ideal cladding for roofs, facades, soffits and fascia areas.

This contemporary roofing profile has breathed new life into the Esquimalt Bungalow project, with R.B. Customs helping to transform it into a modern, stylish abode.

Working closely with homeowner Adam Benning, R.B. Customs remodelled and renovated this small home to feature a standing seam roof, flat-lock metal cladding and hidden fixing standing seam caps, resulting in a stunning transformation. The project was completed in 2021 and is an example of R.B. Customs' craftsmanship and expertise in joinery and kitchen cabinetmaking.

“This was no small feat,” says Rojas. “R.B. Customs had to meticulously measure and cut every part of the building, ensuring that nothing was out of place and nothing out of reach. It was only through our dedication and hard work – and a few puns for good measure – that the project was a success.”

When R.B. Customs install roofing for projects, there is little to no oil canning – a common issue with standing seam roofing.

“This separates us as architectural metal installers. We make sure there are no oil canning effects on the finished product, because this is not the most desired look,” says Rojas.

“We provide free quotes and consultations for all projects. This doesn’t cost anything – just call us and talk about what you’re looking to get out of the project. We can then recommend what products will give the desired effect. There are quite a few profiles and details that a lot of homeowners and architects aren’t aware of, but are common in the industry at the moment.

“With R.B. Customs, you can be sure that your renovation dreams will become a reality, no matter how small or large the project may be. Whether you’re looking to refurbish an old home or create something from scratch, you can count on R.B. Customs to bring your vision to life.”
