Devonport Villa, the private haven of Michael and Rebecca Macfie, directors of Macfie Architecture.
This classic villa, constructed in 1904, has undergone careful restoration and modernization to blend classical architectural features with contemporary interior design.
The project involved preserving and renovating the original villa features, excavating the basement to create a separate studio and pool, and carrying out extensive interior upgrades.
The interior was updated with a new four meter high black shaker kitchen featuring Meile appliances and marble surfaces. The bathrooms feature heritage Perrin & Rowe fixtures, traditional tiles, and design elements that honour the villa's original character.
Childrens rooms were dressed with wallpaper from Farrow & Ball, Fee Greening x Common Room and paint from Aalto.
The rear of the property underwent significant transformation, with floor-to-ceiling crittal steel joinery for both windows and doors, replacing the former weatherboards.
The saltwater pool was enhanced with salvaged bricks from the Britomart Hotel site, complementing the Xanthe White designed garden and landscaping.
Project Scope - concept design, developed design, resource consent, building consent, on-site monitoring, interior design, bathroom design, kitchen design, lighting planning, and furniture and art selection.
