Te Korowai was chosen to signify safety, strength and connections for both staff and clients alike.
The Shapes and variable forms were chosen to represent the people in the building as unique, strong and independent while belonging to the same Whānau.
Meeting The Install Needs:
A huge challenge for the cladding installer was that the building had a large number of independent windows, that feature cross like forms and were also arranged in an organic, variable layout.
This meant strictly aligning the window vertical edges to the vertical seams of the Espan. It also meant a very large number of complex head, jamb and sill flashing's.
The Colour Selection:
The colours were selected to sit in harmony with the clients existing use of blue graphics and signage. The colour also helps deliver a building that is light and welcoming in appearance while also producing a strong and unified appearance.
Espan® 340 Metdek 855:
Espan® 340 was chosen because of its strong, elegant form and its ability to achieve a standing seam appearance while delivering cost and installation efficiencies that come from using a pre-formed, pre-finished metal cladding. Metdek 855 was selected for the roof as the architects wanted to achieve single lengths of roofing without compromising the roofing due to thermal expansion and contraction, Metdek 855 being a secret fixed profile was able to achieve these requirements.
