Newpearl’s Travertine stone-look porcelain slabs combine the timeless beauty of stone with the durability of porcelain, bringing you the best of both worlds.
Home is synonymous with comfort and safety, a space where you can shake off the stresses of the day, free of expectation and constant stimuli. To create a relaxing home environment, designers often reach for warm, inviting, natural materials that are soothing to the eye. Whether it’s a sandy beach, grand mountain trail, or babbling creek, colours and textures that remind us of the tranquil great outdoors are enduringly popular. It’s no wonder that stone-look materials, with their grounding hues and soft, organic grain patterns, are sought after.
Natural stone, while an attractive material, can be impractical for day-to-day life. Porous and sensitive to many household items, from food and drink to cleaning products, stone is difficult to maintain — especially for busy, vibrant homes with kids and pets. Stone colour and veining can also differ significantly slab to slab, making consistency in large installations a challenge. If you want the beautiful, natural look of stone, without the constant upkeep, stone-look porcelain is the answer.
“Porcelain slabs are heavily compressed at a high heat, making them incredibly dense and resistant to scratches, stains, heat, and liquid absorption. You can spill red wine, and you don’t have to worry about stains,” says Walter Li of Newpearl.
"Our Travertine porcelain slab series accurately represents the stone’s gorgeous natural tones and grain, so it looks authentic in your home — but, you don’t have the added worry that spills, germs and dirt, paints and inks, or water are going to cause damage."
"You can trust that your Travertine-look floor, wall, or countertop will continue to look as good as it did on day one."
Thanks to advanced technology in porcelain manufacturing, porcelain slabs can realistically replicate natural stone with consistent colour, quality, durability, and design diversity. This durability is particularly beneficial when you want the warm, clean look of Travertine. A historically beloved stone used in some of the world’s most significant architectural marvels — from the Colosseum to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica — Travertine remains popular for its soft, sandy hue and subtle grain. Naturally a porous stone, Travertine is lightweight and boasts excellent acoustic properties; this might be ideal for a basilica, but it’s not very practical for a home.
“Our Travertine porcelain slab series accurately represents the stone’s gorgeous natural tones and grain, so it looks authentic in your home — but, you don’t have the added worry that spills, germs and dirt, paints and inks, or water are going to cause damage. You can trust that your Travertine-look floor, wall, or countertop will continue to look as good as it did on day one.”
"Our Travertine slabs are suitable for a range of applications in the home, including kitchen splashbacks and bench tops, floors, walls, bathrooms, pool surrounds, fireplace and decorative architectural features."
Available in two styles, Ivory Travertine Beige Neutral and Travertine Natural Light Cream, the Travertine porcelain slabs make a great canvas to build on with other interior or exterior design elements. Thanks to the subtle grain and neutral colour, both styles can be used in large installations without overwhelming the space. They are also incredibly versatile, complementing popular minimalist design aesthetics such as Scandinavian, modern bohemian, and Japanese zen, as well as more colourful approaches like art deco, mid-century modern, and contemporary industrial.
“Nowadays, designers are looking for clean, light colours that feel warm and inviting because they want to create spaces that people want to come home to. This is what attracted us to Travertine as a stone-look porcelain slab,” Walter says.
“Plus, it’s suitable for a range of applications in the home, including kitchen splashbacks and bench tops, floors, walls, bathrooms, pool surrounds, fireplace and decorative architectural features. Our large format slabs measure 800 by 2600, so you can create seamless floor and wall installations with minimal joins, grout lines, or noticeable pattern repetition.”
Whether you’re building new or renovating an existing property, Newpearl’s Travertine stone-look porcelain slab series is a timeless addition to any kitchen, bathroom, or living space. From large commercial and residential installations to single slab features, the natural, soothing tones will create a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere you can find peace in.
