Some of the most important decisions in a home are almost invisible. The effortless glide of a drawer, the seamless movement of a pocket door or the intuitive organisation hidden inside cabinetry all influence how a space feels to live in. Yet they’re impossible to appreciate from a specification sheet alone.
It’s why physical experience remains such an important part of the design process.
Completely reimagined, Blum’s Auckland showroom is more than a place to display products. It’s an environment that bridges the gap between specification and reality for architects, designers, cabinetmakers and homeowners.
The full picture
After a year-long transformation, the showroom has evolved from a predominantly kitchen-focused space into a complete whole-home design destination.
“You can look at a picture of a drawer, but you’re not going to know how smoothly it glides in and out, how our SERVO-DRIVE electrical opening system works, or how easy a pocket door is to glide into its pocket unless you come in and actually feel it,” shares Blum’s Holly Pugh.
Visitors first experience the technical display zone where Blum’s lift systems, drawer systems and pocket door solutions can be explored in detail. From there, the experience unfolds much like a home itself, moving through beautifully realised kitchen, living, bedroom, home office and bathroom settings.

Throughout the showroom, familiar products appear in unexpected applications including a custom-built sofa with concealed storage. There’s entertainment cabinetry and bespoke joinery, all demonstrating how Blum’s hardware can support the way people want to live.
“People are seeing the same product they’ve seen before, but in completely new ways,” says Holly. “You can see REVEGO in a TV cabinet, you can see it in a home office. There’s lots of variety.”
This idea extends beyond the displays themselves. Through Blum’s Kitchen Test Drive, designers and homeowners can come in with their kitchen plan and the team can build it at real-life scale.
“You can see how much space you actually have and whether the configuration works in real life.”

Designed to inspire
Just as the products are presented in different contexts, the showroom itself has been designed to inspire a wide range of projects.
The space draws inspiration from both European and New Zealand designs rather than following a single style, with each zone providing a distinct personality to further allow visitors to picture what they can do in their own spaces.

By creating an environment where products can be seen, touched and tested in realistic settings, Blum is helping homeowners and design professionals make more confident specification decisions.
