This stunning new home overlooking the Omokoroa harbour is a great example of combining cutting edge design with eco-friendly and sustainable construction methods. Andre from Creative Space has pushed the homes design to maximise its passive solar performance by using solid poured ICF polystyrene blocks for the home’s exterior and interior walls. The solid poured concrete theme was carried through to the roof design where pre-cast uni span panels with a concrete topping has been used to make the building a fully insulated concrete structure. 

The exterior of the home is clad with a mix of Steel and Tube Seamlok coloursteel cladding and Herman Pacific Western Red Cedar. By using the darker colour on the coloursteel and the lighter natural colour on the cedar we have ensured longevity and low maintenance to the building envelope by considering each products ability to sustain high UV exposure. Low E max glass throughout the home is another example of using the homes structure to repel the harsh UV light whilst lowering thermal loss. 

Internally the polished concrete floors operate as a battery to absorb heat during the day then slowly release this over night, conversely during summer the floor reduces heat into the home and cross ventilation via the large stacking slider doors moves the air around to passively temper the internal climate. The outdoor deck areas provide both covered and non-covered options giving this home the ultimate kiwi living characteristic, not to mention the swimming pool.
