This Farm Cove home had become dated, but many of its original features were still in excellent condition and worth retaining. Rather than replacing everything, Alder Homes took a considered approach to the renovation. The existing kitchen cabinetry and benchtop were retained and modernised, along with character features including the stained-glass doors and original kitchen windows. The wider home was refreshed throughout, including the living and dining areas, bedrooms, bathroom and garage/laundry, while the existing deck and pergola were refurbished to improve the outdoor living area. The result is a lighter, more contemporary home that retains the character of the original while making it better suited to modern living.

Back deck and pergola - Refurbished deck area

Kitchen - Still in remarkable condition, we modernised this area while retaining the original cabinetry and benchtop

Dining - This area can be shut off from the front door area with these original stained glass doors

Kitchen window - Another original feature to stay, these little windows have a lot of character and can close off the kitchen mess from the entertaining area

Living and Dining - The light greys really opined this living area

Living Room - Pink carpet and peeling pink wallpaper to this beautiful modern suntrap.

Master Bedroom - Large Master room with ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and double doors to the garden deck.

Large Single bedroom could also be a study

Bathroom - What a change, from another pink carpeted bathroom with pink wallpaper, this room is much more practical and inviting.

Garage - Following through with the paint colours we also added carpet to the back part of this is a rather large garage/laundry

“Alder Homes took on the task of remediating our home after several leaks meant all of the internal plumbing had to be replaced. They organised painters and plasters and other trades (we had a new garage door and showerdome fitted at the same time) and liaised with us through the whole process. I was undergoing medical treatment at the time and they made sure that the work was arranged to provide the minimum amount of intrusion possible. They were always available whenever anything cropped up and were never anything other than patient and kind. Fantastic people that made a very trying time so much better.”
