Modal Architecture is a New Zealand residential and commercial architectural design practice. We create thoughtful buildings shaped around their sites, the people who use them and the way they want to live and work. Residential architecture is at the heart of our practice. Our work includes new homes , renovations and extensions , holiday homes and baches , infill homes and secondary dwellings , and architectural developments . We also design for off-site and panelised construction , alongside commercial architecture and office fit-outs . Founded in 2021, Modal works across New Zealand, including Auckland, Wellington and Queenstown. Our team collaborates with clients, builders and specialist consultants from the first ideas through design, consenting, documentation and construction. We bring design thinking and practical coordination together, with clear communication throughout the process. We value well-proportioned spaces, a strong connection to place and the everyday pleasure of a building that works well. Comfort, energy efficiency and healthy building principles are considered alongside the architecture, with an approach tailored to each project.
