CTRL Space crafted the beautifully detailed workspace for Auckland Real Estate in Customs Street West, with stunning views of the harbour.

The overall brief was to create an aspirational, high-end workspace that was befitting for the beautiful, prestige waterfront location in downtown Auckland, with careful consideration to materiality and detail, taking context from the curves of the harbour bridge.

Emily Cain, Project Director from CTRL Space, came to Heritage Carpets to find a carpet tile that reflected the luxury aesthetic the design team were looking for in the space. They wanted high-end quality with a subtle pattern and texture to give the space interest without being overpowering, creating a calm oasis.

The team chose the soft-toned, nature-inspired HAZE from the latest design release (2021) from modulyss – The Heritage Collection. Haze references mists over water, so was apt to tie into the views of the Auckland harbour. The design comes in both loop pile and cut pile, which, used together in the same colourway, offers a variation in texture that enhances the organic, shifting tonality.

Emily says, “Heritage Carpets knew we were looking for something special. They’re always diligent with responses and getting samples to us…so when the right product became available it was presented to me as soon as possible.”

Haze colour 850 in loop and cut pile were used alternately throughout the spaces, creating a subtle, harmonious variation and a visual softness, with a sense of the organic, allowing the stunning view to remain as the hero. Curved junctions between the two carpet textures reflect the architectural cues from the harbour bridge, that are carried through from the smooth wave of the lobby walls and curtained break-out zone.
