The Nightcar
Diving into the sub-terranean labyrinth of downtown Auckland, The Nightcar lounge bar offers respite from the hustle of the streets above. Deep colours, moody lighting and contrasting textures combine to create a sense of luxury, with a nod to the design inspiration of lavish, historic Hong Kong train carts and subways.
Key to creating the aesthetic of the design was the choice of luxe cut pile carpet tiles that both met the rigorous wear and tear requirements of hospitality and provided a premium look for the soft flooring in the deep colours that enhance the moodiness of the spaces. Contrasting pile lengths and colours for the lounge spaces emphasise a checker-board effect, while mono-colours in the bar area delineate zones.
Sam Griffin, Creative Director at interior architecture design studio CTRL Space worked with Heritage Carpets to supply modulyss carpet tiles for the flooring and kicks. On working with Heritage Carpets, Sam says, “With a brilliant range of products and the willingness to go beyond and above to deliver products on time and in budget why wouldn’t we!”
