Australia Bans Gas in New Builds: Decoflame Leads the Way

Australia Is Phasing Out Gas in New Builds — Decoflame Is the Flame-First, Electric-Only Solution'

As the push toward decarbonisation accelerates, major regions in Australia — including the City of Sydney, State of Victoria, and other progressive councils — are moving to ban natural gas connections in new residential and commercial buildings. These changes will impact apartments, homes, and hospitality venues, reshaping how Australians cook, heat, and design their spaces.

For architects, interior designers, builders, and eco-minded homeowners, these policy shifts demand immediate solutions that align with zero-emission goals, without compromising on style or performance.

🔥 Why Gas Is Being Banned in New Builds

From July 2024, Victoria will ban gas connections in all new homes and residential subdivisions. The City of Sydney has announced similar plans, and other Australian regions are following suit January 2027. These bans are part of broader climate policies to reduce fossil fuel reliance and cut carbon emissions — with natural gas a major contributor to household energy use.

Traditional gas fireplaces, water heaters, and cooktops are now off the table for many new projects. This leaves a gap in the market for:
