After the chaos of January — family gatherings, returning to work, preparing the kids for a new school year — February brings normalcy, and with it, the awareness that stuff piles up. While it may be the height of summer right now, there’s no reason you can’t indulge in a little spring cleaning. If you’re overwhelmed by clutter or Christmas gifts that have yet to find a home, it may be time to consider reorganising.
“People can feel unorganised in their homes due to a lack of storage space, clutter accumulation, or a lack of organisational systems,” says Holly Pugh of storage experts, Blum.
“When spaces don’t have enough built-in storage solutions to keep items neatly arranged, items can pile up over time — especially in high-traffic areas like the kitchen and bathroom. Without regular purging or decluttering, the spaces can become disorganised quickly if they haven’t been well thought out early in the planning stages. The idea that the size or footprint of a room dictates the ability to have enough storage is a myth; there are some really innovative storage products and ideas around that are designed to make the most of space that’s generally imagined as unusable.”
To help you refresh and reorganise for the new year, we caught up with Holly to learn more about organising the home with Blum’s innovative storage systems.
“People can feel unorganised in their homes due to a lack of storage space, clutter accumulation, or a lack of organisational systems.”
“ORGA-LINE features high-quality stainless steel trays and utensil dividers, which makes it easy to clean and dishwasher safe. The practical and flexible dividing system can be re-arranged according to the buyer's personal storage requirements.”
Clear space = clear mind
“The key to a clear mind is a clear space, and that starts with your everyday areas in your home,” Holly explains.
Setting aside time to declutter your spaces seasonally is a great way to ensure you don’t hold on to items that are no longer useful or important. Alongside these decluttering sessions, investing in functional storage systems that suit your lifestyle will reduce the need for hours of cleaning and organising, giving you more time to enjoy the things you love.
“Don't be afraid to change your storage if it isn't working for you, flexibility is key!” Holly says.
With a functional and well-designed storage system, your high-traffic areas — those spaces that tend to accumulate more and more stuff — will be easy to maintain.
“Our AMBIA-LINE and ORGA-LINE are essential storage solutions that help solve disorganisation by providing a clear, structured way to store and organise items.”
Choosing the right storage system
With a functional and well-designed storage system, your high-traffic areas — those spaces that tend to accumulate more and more stuff — will be easy to maintain.
“Our AMBIA-LINE and ORGA-LINE are essential storage solutions that help solve disorganisation by providing a clear, structured way to store and organise items,” Holly says.
“They have been designed to improve accessibility and visibility while creating a functional workflow. They also can be flexible and adaptable and help to create designated spaces for items: a place for everything and everything in its place.”
Designed to fit Blum'sMERIVOBOX and LEGRABOX drawers, AMBIA-LINE is an inner dividing system available in soft-touch steel or wood design finishes.
“AMBIA-LINE can be accessorised with a magnetic plate that allows the frames to be secured to the drawer back, keeping your belongings secure in larger drawers.”
ORGA-LINE is the inner dividing system for tried and trusted TANDEMBOX drawers.
“ORGA-LINE features high-quality stainless steel trays and utensil dividers, which makes it easy to clean and dishwasher safe. The practical and flexible dividing system can be re-arranged according to the buyer's personal storage requirements.”
Both AMBIA-LINE and ORGA-LINE have additional kitchen accessories such as plate holders, knife holders, film and foil dispensers and spice holders — an organiser’s dream!
“Every space is different, so the products you choose must have the ability to be flexible. ORGA-LINE has an endless number of configurations you can use to fit your space, whether large or small, while AMBIA-LINE uses modular sizes to create a simple but effective layout — designed in a way that fits every space based on studies and observations by Blum.”
