"House of Rejects" is the private residence of Rene Tan, co-founder of RT+Q Architects. As the name suggests, the project serves as a living archive of "rejected" ideas―architectural concepts, unconventional materials, and quirky details that were previously proposed to clients but ultimately turned down. It is an exercise in creative liberation, where discarded proposals are brought to life within a cohesive, avant-garde domestic setting.

The architecture is characterized by its raw off-form concrete shell and a "bent" form designed to optimize natural light and cross-ventilation. Inside, the home challenges traditional domestic hierarchies: the wet kitchen, often hidden, is reimagined as the largest and most social space in the house, featuring a vaulted ceiling inspired by classical cathedrals. From a massive three-story bookshelf to hidden rooms and whimsical storage solutions, the house is a series of "counter-intuitive" discoveries. It is a masterpiece that celebrates the beauty of unconventional thinking, turning architectural "misfits" into a harmonious, joy-filled sanctuary.
