5 bathroom design ideas inspired by nature

The Nature tapware collection, designed in New Zealand, draws inspiration from the captivating forms and patterns found in nature. Each piece encapsulates the essence of the natural world – from the graceful curves of leaves to the symmetrical beauty of seashells.

“With meticulous attention to achieve perfect symmetry and proportion, this collection is a true work of art, striking a flawless balance between form and function,” says Joshua Martinac from Elite Bathroomware. “The Nature tapware collection is part of the Nature range, created by the owner of Elite Bathroomware who brings over 20 years of industry experience to the design process.”

Bathrooms are typically one of the more costly parts of a home to renovate and it’s important to engage the advice of designers and architects to find the right products for your taste and budget. A cost-effective way to upgrade the look of your bathroom is by changing the tapware.

“When homeowners are after a specific look that they've seen online, tapware is one of the easiest things to recreate,” says Martinac. Lately, his team has seen a move towards designs with soft curves.

Designed to be a perfect balance between form and function, Elite Bathroomware’s new Nature collection features subtle details that “evoke the movement of water and the organic forms seen in nature”.

“The handles and spouts of our taps feature soft, slim curves and clean lines, creating a sense of flow and harmony that seamlessly blends with any interior.”

Organic forms and natural materials are both part of biophilic design – incorporating aspects of the natural world in an interior setting – and are effective in emulating a sense of serenity.

When specifying bathroom furniture, Elite Bathroomware also has a wide selection of vanities in timber veneer with colours such as natural oak and walnut.

A cost-effective way to go a step further is by adding plants to your space – a feature that will perform on a visual level, as well as play its part in improving air quality and fostering a sense of wellbeing and relaxation.

“The use of greenery in indoor settings establishes a vital link to the natural world,” says Martinac.

Nature can provide plenty of inspiration for the home interior, and it’s important to do this mindfully by selecting products designed to last – ones that won’t end in landfill and harm the environment.

Not only is Elite Bathroomware’s new Nature tapware range a stylish option, the products are also durable and designed to withstand daily use for many years thanks to PVD (physical vapour deposition) coating.

“PVD finishes offer unmatched durability, maintaining the tapware’s beauty for years. The protective coating resists scratches, corrosion, tarnishing and fading. The PVD process reduces waste and promotes sustainable consumption by minimising replacements and waste generation,” says Martinac. “A standard powder coat finish only lasts about a year and then it starts to chip and flake away.”

While tiles and textiles can be used to introduce colour to a bathroom, so too can tapware. Available in seven colours – including chrome, matte white and brushed nickel – the Nature Basin Mixer can suit any design scheme.

“The Nature Range has taken a lot of planning, including lots of work to ensure each item in the collection matches the next with millimeters of detailing. Our designer has taken a lot of feedback from clients and developed something that is a ‘work of art’,” says Martinac. “The Nature Range features the first PVD matte white finish to be available in New Zealand.”
